Finally after 18 months Selby Town Hall has finally reopened its doors and we are welcoming back our wonderful audiences. We have a fantastic line up with something for everyone!

We relaunched with a warmup gig featuring Jess Gardham and Ryan Spendlove, a great acoustic gig to help the team get ‘match fit’ after so many months and also to ensure we are doing everything we can to open safely as possible. This was followed by TV’s Paul Sinha, who played to a sell out audience.

Selby Town Hall is an award winning arts centre owned and run by Selby Town Council on behalf of the people of Selby Town. The intimate venue, with a seating capacity of up to 150, hosts world class performances from across the range of art forms including music, comedy and theatre.

The Town Hall first opened its doors as a regular performance venue in September 2003 and hosted many major stars, past and present, including Dara O’Briain, The Wombats, Jeremy Hardy, Alan Carr, Midge Ure and Jon Richardson.

The current season has a mix of re-scheduled and brand-new events, from blues to stand-up and theatre to western swing.  Some of the shows are already sold out or close to sold out, mainly because they are re-scheduled shows, but we have tickets available for performances to suit everyone including “Sessions” in a couple of weeks time on the 29th September, a raw, funny, bittersweet new play from Paines Plough, the “national theatre of new writing”

You may have seen members of the Northern Chamber Orchestra and contemporary Manchester composer Michael Betteridge popping up around Selby Town centre over the last two weekends, their last pop-up is tomorrow (Saturday 18 September). They are composing a piece of music influenced by the public of Selby’s ideas and this will be premiered at their concert to be held on 3 November at the Town Hall. They will also be playing classic works by Mozart, Tchaikovsky and Elgar along with pieces taking influence from the streets of Buenos Aires and Romania.

Amongst the many comedians performing this season we have Sara Barron – a no holds barred, powerhouse comedy star of Live at the Apollo, Would I Lie to You and 8 out of 10 Cats. Sara is a powerhouse live act and fast rising star who’s previous shows have sold out to major critical and audience acclaim. Catch Sara at the Town Hall on Friday 29 October while you can!

Finalist of Britains Got Talent and star of BBC Radio 4’s Citizen of Nowhere, master of satire Daliso Chaponda will be performing top class comedy. Daliso is finally back out of the house and on stage with a new show of the slickest, sharpest look at life. “Full of sharp one liners and well crafted gags – a real talent to look out for” – Metro.
