Selby Town Council, as part of its commitment to making Selby a greener and more pleasant place to live and work, will be displaying 40 hanging baskets and adding plants to numerous planters in the Town.
In connection with Selby in Bloom, we are holding our annual competitions which are kindly sponsored by the Selby Times and The Big Communi-Tea.
The artwork competition sponsored by The Big-Communi-Tea invites pupils of the local primary schools to design a picture linked to this year’s theme Earth Day 2026. There will be prizes awarded in four age categories.
The Competition will be judged by the mayor and a representative of the Big Communi-Tea. And the presentations will be held at the Town Hall in June.
The theme for the residents, businesses and schools competition sponsored by the Selby Times is Re-Wilding and Nature Recovery.
We are inviting entries that demonstrate how their garden, plant pots, window box, patios….are supporting nature and wildlife. There will be a prize awarded in each category.
The closing date for this competition is Friday 12th June 2026 and is open to Selby Town Residents.
The competition will be judged by the mayor. And the presentations will be held at the Town Hall in June.
