Selby Farmers & Craft Market is held on the 3rd Saturday of every month on the Market Place in the heart of Selby. Selby Abbey provides a stunning backdrop to the vibrant monthly market. A Farmers market was previously held monthly on Wednesday mornings, however, we wanted to showcase the local producers to a wider audience and agreed with the regular traders a Saturday in the month that worked for them and allowed us to attract new traders. We decided to add in local craft traders to offer a greater shopping experience and the new Farmers and Craft Market was launched.
Since the initial launch we have added various street food options and provided seating areas so you can “eat in” or takeaway.
Live music performers have now become a regular part of the market, usually solo performers, but we have in the past had performances from Morris Dancers and a flash mob from the local Rock Choir.
Selby Town Council are committed to encouraging residents and visitors into the town to help support the local economy and showcase the many amazing independent shops, restaurants, cafes and bars that Selby has to offer.
Following our successful trial Night Market and also a Mini Food & Craft Festival held earlier this summer, many new traders have joined the monthly Farmers & Craft Market – some of who will be at this weeks market on Saturday 17 July, 9am to 2pm.
Why don’t you come along on Saturday, the weather looks great, and experience the fantastic range of local and international food and local crafts. Listen to live music, try new food and enjoy browsing through the variety of stalls we have on offer.
