What we do

The Town Council runs its services from purpose-built offices based at the Town Hall situated in the centre of town.  The building is also the venue for an exciting programme of arts events, which has been running for three years.

The population of Selby Town is 14,350.

The Town is split into three wards, Selby North, Selby South and Selby West.

There are 18 elected Councillors on the Town Council.

The Council employs twelve staff (see organisational chart), six in the office at the Town Hall. The Town Clerk is responsible for the Council's finances and staff.  The Resource Manager is responsible for Selby Cemetery and grounds maintenance.  Part-time Admin Assistant deals with allotments, Selby in Bloom and the Fun Day.  Admin Officer deals with the day to day running of the Town Hall accounts, room bookings and supports the town hall events.  This officer also supports the Community Trust accounts and room bookings.   Part-time Senior Admin Officer deals with accounts, payroll and customer services. The Arts Officer runs the Town Hall Shows.  In September 2010 the Town Council took over the running of Selby's markets. We have a Part-time Market Manager.

All the above can be contacted at the Town Hall on 01757 708449 or by e-mail at admin@selbytowncouncil.co.uk
